To apply, you must be aged between 18 and 69, live in an area that STF covers and have a UK bank account and debit card. You cannot be bankrupt, have an IVA or be in a debt management programme. You will also need a mobile phone.

Each application is assessed based upon the information you provide us with on the online application form, and from the visit from your local agent. At this point we will assess your affordability and suitability so, unfortunately, we can't tell you if you will be accepted until your application is processed.
If you’re a new customer, you need to enter your details via our loan calculator tool. If you pass our pre-application checks, you'll be directed to the application page where you'll be prompted to fill out your details in our online form.
If you are an existing customer looking for new credit you need to click on the Login button at the top of this page and register your account. Once you have registered you will be able to apply for further credit.

As part of the application process, we carry out a credit search on all new customers. We believe that, as responsible lenders, it is our job to make sure our customers are able to afford the credit they apply for. Making such checks also ensures we are in the best position to work with our customers if they face financial problems later on. As a family run business, we understand how frustrating it can be when you're refused a loan for a minor lapse on your credit history. While some lenders have very strict lending policies, we do our best to give you a chance to take out a loan and build up your credit history by repaying your loan weekly.

If you struggle to make a payment, the last thing you need is more debt, so rather than work against you, we will work with you to help you build a better credit rating and improve your financial future. You won't be required to send any paperwork. All of that is processed when one of our friendly agents visit you at your home. They will ask you for proof of your affordability, to sign the credit agreement, the application form and a mandate that gives us permission to collect your payments. They may also need to see a proof of residency and income.
Absolutely none. At STF, we believe in helping our customers if they run into financial difficulties. Adding more debt to your account will only make things worse for you and that is not something we want to do. However, it is in your interests to keep your repayments up because further loans depend on your payment history.
This is simply so we can register your card to your account and take payments from you on your payment due dates.
No problem, you can either pay off your balance (including a rebate if applicable) within your account on the website, or phone Customer Care on 0333 433 0013. They will calculate your rebate for you (if applicable) and you can pay the balance off over the phone with your debit card.
There are many reasons why an application may have been declined, but it doesn't necessarily mean you won't be accepted for a Short Term Finance loan in future. Your financial circumstances change all the time, so don't feel you won't ever be accepted. Just give us a call and we'll be happy to explain the situation.
If you register your account on the website, you can get all sorts of information about your account, including your current balance, statements, previous loans and whether you're at a point where you can apply for a new loan.
Every week on your payment due day, we will collect your payments using a Continuous Payment Authority (CPA). This means the payment will be collected from your debit card. You can cancel the CPA authority by phoning STF on 0333 433 0013.
Simply call STF on 0333 433 0013 and ask to change your card details. Our customer care team will verify your new card and update your account with the new details.
